WIRRAL RSPCA Inspector Anthony Joynes will be back on the box for series six of The Dog Rescuers on Channel 5.

The new series features incredible dog rescues, miraculous recoveries and, of course, heart-warming rehomes.

Viewers will follow the familiar faces of the RSPCA’s finest plus some new friends as they continue their crusade against cruelty and neglect of dogs.

In the first episode Anthony will work with Merseyside Police in a bid to rescue two dogs who had been beaten by their owner.

The final episode will be a one hour special showing Anthony's recent trip to Malawi where he helped hold a pop-up neutering clinic and vaccinated dogs against diseases such as rabies.

Anthony told the Globe: "For this series I have been accompanied by The Dog Rescuers cameras probably more than ever before but still less than 20 days for the whole year.

"I'm hoping it will give a small insight into what RSPCA Inspectors up and down the country are dealing with day in and day out.

"From giving to advice, assistance and educating members of the public on ways to improve the welfare of theirs dogs to actively intervening and bringing cruelty and neglect cases before the courts; the programme will show it all.

"The episode tonight involves two senior staffies, one of which was viciously beaten by her owner in a Moreton street.

"I work closely with Merseyside Police and assist in the execution of a warrant to rescue both dogs from their owner to ensure that they are no longer at risk of such abhorrent behaviour."

For this latest series, Alan Davies will return as host and will be joined by TV presenter and Celebrity Masterchef winner Angellica Bell.

The Dog Rescuers returns to channel 5 tonight (June 12) at 8pm.
