YOUNGSTERS across Wirral are being invited to hop aboard a new free bus service to the borough’s state-of-the-art youth facility The Hive.

The Bright Street youth hub has launched a free 10-week travel scheme which will run to The Hive from South Wirral, Wallasey and Wirral West.

Each route will service a number of stops in a bid to provide easy access to The Hive for as many youngsters as possible.

The dedicated service, provided by Happy Al’s, will only travel to The Hive Youth Zone and team members will accompany members on each of the bus trips.

This latest initiative will help provide somewhere to go and something to do and will be trialled for a ten-week period from mid-June to August with potential to extend the scheme if successful.

The Hive chief executive Stuart Barnes said: “We want to make The Hive as accessible as possible to as many young people as possible across the Wirral and this dedicated bus service will help us to achieve that.

"Not only will it provide young people with a fast, and easy way of getting to The Hive so they can enjoy the fantastic facilities on offer here but it will be a sociable way of travelling to the Youth Zone, helping to encourage friendships amongst our young members.”

Each bus has a 72 person capacity to The Hive which offers a membership fee of just £5 a year and 50p per visit.

The Wirral West bus service will run every Monday from June 18 to August 20 with the south Wirral route running on Tuesdays from the June 19 to August 21.

The Wallasey service will run every Thursday from June 21 to August 23.

All services will be timed to arrive at The Hive before 5.30pm and to depart at 8.30pm.

The buses can be used by young people between the ages of 13 to 19, or up to age 25 for any youngster with additional needs.
