POLICE are appealing for information after a man was brutally assaulted in West Kirby for his bike.

On Monday, May 21 at around 10pm to 11.15pm a report was received that a 47-year-old man had been attacked for his Bultaco Brinco bike in Greenbank Road.

The man received serious injuries to his ribs, skull and lung and is still receiving treatment.

After an appeal by police, the bike has now been found.

Detective inspector Brian O'Hagan said: "The victim suffered serious injuries and we are thankful that the incident wasn't much worse.

"We'd like to speak to anyone that saw the assault.

"Following our appeal, a member of the public came forward stating that he'd recovered the bike after sighting it unattended.

"It has since been returned to the victim who is extremely grateful for this persons vigilance."
