THE new Marine Street Social will open it's doors in New Brighton this bank holiday weekend.

Brainchild of partners Carl Thomas, Rob Casson and Steve Thomas, the new dog and family friendly hub, based at Unit 6 Marine Point, will be similar to the likes of the Baltic Market in Liverpool.

More importantly it will boast a rooftop bar and events space complete with independent food and drink vendors, work spaces, music and entertainment.

The grand opening of the venue, based at Unit 6 Marine Point, will take place on Friday, May 25 from 6pm and will host the homecoming of legendary DJ Greg Wilson.

This won't be the only homecoming event in Marine Street Social's opening weekend calendar, as on Sunday Boo Radley's guitarist and songwriter Martin Carr will perform a one-off acoustic set.

Carl told the Globe: "It's been a year in the making and i'm just excited to see what people think.

"We're really happy with the outcome, it's looking amazing. I've been unbelievably stressed but I hope it all pulls off."

The independent food vendors setting up shop at the hub include Indian street food purveyors Chutney, frozen yoghurt and bubble waffle creators Yog Time, smokehouse BBQ Cowfish, Japanese street foodies Izakaya, Hatch and Marine Street Grill.

Carl added: "Marine Street Social is all about promoting our independents in a social hub.

“We are social hub offering food, drink, art installations, live music, sport and specialist events.

“We’re mostly aiming for everything to be Wirral sourced, independent and local.

"With local brews, gins and brands – we hope to champion and join forces with independents across the area to create a premium experience for the people of New Brighton.

“There’s already a lot of events planned for the space but I want to make it very clear that we are not going to be a club or a bar, we offer so much more than that and will be making sure we look after our neighbours and local environment.

“We will work with friends, residents and community groups in New Brighton to help promote our message and get people supporting local businesses.

“The idea is the space is both dog and family friendly – a place where families can come and relax."
