A WOMAN has died after a collision with a car in Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called just before 12am on Saturday, May 19 to Conway Street following reports that a black Honda Civic car had collided with a pedestrian.

A 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital by paramedics but later died as a result of her injuries.

Her next of kin have been informed.

The driver was uninjured and is helping officers with their enquiries.

Road closures were in place on Conway Street until 11am on Sunday for police to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.

Birkenhead bus station was also closed with Stagecoach and Arriva services picking up and dropping off at Argyle Street but this has now reopened.

Merseyside Police are now looking for any witnesses who may have seen the accident to come forward.
