POLICE are hunting for a specially-made tricycle after it was stolen from Birkenhead.

The tricycle belongs to an eight-year-old boy with learning difficulties.

Sometime between 5.10am and 9pm on Sunday, April 15 the blue Theraplay trike was taken from outside the front of a house on Park Road North.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the trike and those responsible for stealing it.

Community inspector Paul Harrison said: "We would urge anyone with information about this theft to please get in touch.

"This trike was provided to the child by a charity due to a number of health issues, and is well-loved by the young boy.

"For someone to steal it and deprive him of something he gets a great deal of enjoyment from will affect his quality of life significantly.

"I am appealing to the offenders, or anyone who knows the whereabouts of this trike and may have been offered it for sale, or who may have seen anyone acting suspicious in the area of Park Road North on Sunday, to search their conscience and help return them to the family."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC.
