TO celebrate the royal wedding a luxury candle company based in Wirral will launch 12 of the world's most expensive candles.

The 12 limited edition pieces from Owen Drew are set to retail at £750.

Set in 24 carat gold vessels and hand-crafted by skilled artisans, the candles contain precious oils and perfumes costing more than £25,000 per KG.

One of the luxury candles will be donated to The Spider-Ede Appeal to help fund potentially life-saving treatment for brave three-year-old Edie Molyneux who was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) - a rare and inoperable brain tumour.

Creative director and founder of the brand, Drew Cockton, 31, designed the fragrance for the candles after details of bride Meghan Markle’s floral arrangements and bouquet were made public.

Drew told the Globe: “I wanted to design something completely luxurious, so used Bulgarian Rose oil and Indian Jasmine oil.

"They are amongst the most expensive essential oils in the world; for just 1KG over 2 million roses are used.

“We then added peony notes, since this is the bride’s favourite flower, complimented by Geranium oil from the Nile Delta to enhance the green notes of the foliage.

"Beech and Birch notes are supported by Cedarwood oil from the Americas.

"Finally, expensive musks round off the whole fragrance giving it a wonderfully floral finish.

“I have no doubt that these will be amongst the most decadent and luxurious candles in the world.

“We will of course be sending the happy couple one with our very best wishes."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on Saturday May 19.

The candles will be available in May.
