A COMMUNITY centre will support cyclists in the Liverpool Chester Liverpool (LCL) once again this year by hosting a rest stop.

Neston Community Youth Centre (NCYC) will host the event on Sunday, July 1 on Burton Road and will offer refreshments from water, high-energy chocolate, fruit to coffee provided by local shop 'Elephant Coffee'.

Local cycling companies including Tracs and Arrivee Performance Clothing will have stalls selling parts and clothing.

There will also be live music to keep everyone entertained.

Riders will again be raising cash for Claire House Children's Hospice and over recent years cyclists have raised more than £220,000 to support the local children's hospice.

Each participant can choose their own route from a five mile family tunnel to the 100 mile Liverpool challenge.

After consultation with Merseytravel LCL's finish line will be at the end of the Birkenhead tunnel's dock branch exit which faces the Royal Liver Buildings and the waterfront.

Manager of NCYC Gareth Prytherch said: "We are delighted that for the fourth year running the LCL bike ride will visit Neston and Parkgate.

“The LCL bike ride is really important to the town because it ensures that a large number of visitors get to see a beautiful part of the route that most people drive by.

“At Neston Community Youth Centre, we look forward to welcoming all of the riders with a space to refresh, re-energise and relax (a little) before continuing on the road.

"We will be working with local businesses and community organisations to make sure that 2018 is the best yet.”

Claire House Children's Hospice events fundraising manager Mark Pearson said: "We are proud to return as the official charity of the LCL bike ride.

“Every year, cyclists pedal from between five to 100 miles for their local children’s hospice and the money that they raise makes such a massive difference to families.

"Over the last five years the number of children that we look after has risen by more than 60% so we need more cyclists than ever before to get on their bikes this summer.”

For a limited time only there is a 25% discount for any route of LCL bike ride – please use the code NESTON25 when booking.
