POLICE have issued a CCTV still of a man they would like to speak to after the body of a man was found in Bebington.

Emergency services were called to Old Chester Road at around 9.45pm on Sunday, March 11 after a member of the public found the body of a man on the pavement.

The man was identified as a 54 year-old from Bebington.

His next of kin have been informed.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and the results of the post mortem have been withheld pending toxicology tests.

Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses who have provided statements but they are keen to trace a male who hasn’t yet come forward.

Police say he is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

He is Asian in appearance, wearing dark clothing, a red coloured cap and carrying a rucksack.

Detective inspector Paul Parry said: “At the present time the man’s death is being treated as unexplained but we need to follow up every line of enquiry.

“We would like the male in the CCTV footage to come forward as we believe that he may be able to give us a witness statement.

“I want to make it clear that we don’t suspect him of any wrongdoing but think he could have information which is vital to our enquiry.”

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV, or his description, or the man himself, is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 2265 @MerPolCC or by calling the non-emergency 101 number.
