NESTON Town Council have pledged their support to this year's Ladies Club Day events programme.

At a full council meeting on March 20, councillors approved a grant application submitted by local organisation Hip and Harmony for entertainment during the event on Thursday, June 7.

Dating from 1814, the Neston Female Society has organised the event every year on the first Thursday in June, apart from during the war years.

It is the highlight of the calendar for society, believed to be the only surviving organisation of its kind in the country.

This year's parade will start at 2pm outside of the Malt Shovel pub.

The entertainment will showcase local talent and community art groups in a bid to attract families and friends to the area during the Ladies Day parade.

Chair of People committee cllr Martin Barker said: “This event brings together multiple generations of families from Neston and further afield and we are pleased that the entertainment is continuing this year which compliments this great tradition.

"We hope you will be able to join them and share in this wonderful event.”
