FIREFIGHTERS tackled a large fire in Rock Ferry this morning.
Large plumes of think black smoke could be seen rising over the region from around 9am.
Merseyside Fire Service sent multiple crews to the scene to tackle the fire which is believed to have involved a large amount of tyres near to New Chester Road.
Police were also on the scene and closed New Chester Road northbound at the junctions of Bedford Road and St Pauls Road due to the thick smoke.
The road has now been reopened.
Firefighters spent around three hours at the scene and have now successfully put out the fire.
