THE premature decision of the council caused the loss of all league fixtures again this week, with many pitches remaining playable despite the poor weather.

However, thanks to the cooperation of a few teams two divisional cup semi-finals did take place on artificial surfaces and produced two great games.

At Pensby High School JASGA PV fought out a close encounter with Nelson FC and edged into the First Division Cup final by a 3-2 score line.

Early play saw JASGA's keeper Neil Crowder make three excellent saves before they made and took two chances following defensive errors to go 2-0 ahead through a Stewart Speed brace.

The football from both teams on this superb surface was good to watch and Callum Morrison reduced the arrears before half time with a fine goal.

Captain Dave Finnigan then put JASGA 3-1 ahead before Danny Murphy scored to ensure a nerve tingling finish to an excellent game.

The other semi took place at Bidston Rec Centre and produced a nine-goal thriller that went to extra time to decide this Second division tie.

The game ebbed and flowed between North Wirral Saints and St Andrews United as the advantage changed hands a few times, but an extra winner for United from Tom Jeffrey sealed a 5-4 success and they now meet Halfway House on Sunday at Cammell Lairds ground.

Scoring for Saints were Callum Saint, Lewis Hewson and Reece Orton with a double. On target for United were an own goal plus singles from Jack McEntaggart, Callum Murray and Jack Kemp and of course the winner.

Good luck is wished to both JASGA PV and Nelson FC who compete in next weeks Wirral DFA Amateur cup semi-final, thus ensuring a Wallasey team in the final.
