POLICE are appealing for information after a man suffered serious head injuries following a crash in Birkenhead.

Merseyside Police were called at around 7.40pm on Tuesday, February 20 to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and silver Vauxhall Astra at Charing Cross.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered a serious head injury and is still receiving treatment in hospital.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.

Constable Cliff Shaw from Roads Policing Investigation team said: “The man remains in a serious condition and we are issuing this appeal to speak with any witnesses who are yet to come forward.

"This is a busy junction in the Charing Cross area of Birkenhead close to the tunnel so I would ask that if you saw the collision or were in the area at around 7.40pm and have dash-cam on your vehicle, to please come forward to assist.

“A piece of information you think is insignificant could be vital to our investigation.”
