A young Wirral sailor has been crowned as one of the winners of sports clothing brand Musto's Junior Riders Programme.

David Bromilow, 12, from West Kirby Sailing Club was announced as one of the winners at the 2018 Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Dinghy Show.

To win, David had to show he was ambitious, acted on curiosity, showed clear courage and determination, took ownership of himself and displayed a high level of respect and integrity - both on shore and in the water.

David was awarded with a mentorship by a member of the British Sailing Team and a Musto voucher worth £500.

His sailing coach, David Shiling said: “David is eager and willing to learn, on and off the water.

"He sets personal goals and tracks his progress independently, demonstrating his high level of ambition.

"As well as always wanting to try new techniques, David never wants to miss out on any event, displaying his commitment and curiosity.

"He is a true team player, working well with all age groups, representing a true sporting personality.”

David was one of three winners who joined the newly appointed Racing Director at the RYA and Volvo Ocean Race Winner Ian Walker MBE on stage at the Dinghy Show for the announcement.
