THREE teenagers have been charged after a police car chase ended in a crash inside the Birkenhead tunnel.

Merseyside Police received reports of a stolen orange Ford Fiesta car being driven dangerously across Wirral in the direction of Queensway Tunnel at around 3pm on Saturday, March 3.

Police chased the vehicle before it crashed into the tunnel wall and all four males inside were arrested.

19-year-old Lee Miller was charged with dangerous driving, aggravated unauthorised taking of a car, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

Will Smith, 18, of Manor Road, Liscard was charged with aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.

19-year-old Leo Meek of West Way, Moreton was charged with aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.

All three were remanded in custody to appear on Monday, 5 March at Wirral Magistrates Court.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of aggravated unauthorised taking of a car and dangerous driving, and was released under investigation.

The car was recovered along with an Omega Seamaster watch, which had been stolen from a house in Barnston on February 21 - it has since been returned to the owner.
