A WIRRAL teacher is representing Liverpool in the Ms British Beauty Curve pageant.

Cathy Hargreaves, 35, a Spanish teacher at Bebington High Sports College has been selected to represent Liverpool in the national plus size beauty pageant in August.

Miss British Beauty Curve has three categories; Ms, Miss and Mrs and hopes to encourage women of different shapes and sizes to take part.

The mum-of-two hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams while being proud of their bodies.

She told the Globe: “This is my first pageant - i’m nervous but more excited.

“I’m in a Facebook group with all the other contestants and everyone is so nice and it’s a great community, so helpful and supportive.

“Obviously I’d love to win the Ms British Beauty Curve title, i’m so competitive myself.

“In the run up to the pageant we have to drum up publicity and make appearances to earn more points for the pageant. I’ve spoken to a few charities in the New Ferry area so hopefully have a few things lined up with them.

“There’s a lot of different rounds such as swimwear and evening. It’s great getting different companies on board and i’ve now got a personal trainer, not to lose weight but just to get myself feeling better in a swimsuit.

“I’m so thankful for Clare Bowers editor of Mum Boss UK who is sponsoring me and businesses such as Opulence in West Kirby and CJ in the City in Liverpool have been so supportive.

“I’m nervous about going back to school with everyone knowing but I know they will all be supportive.

“I’d love to be a positive role model for girls to show you can be confident whatever your size.

“The pageant has been the biggest boost ever. I’ve been on every diet under the sun for years so its nice to open up a new world of accepting myself.

“To anyone thinking about doing something like this, just do it, it’s been the best experience so far.”
