A NESTON based choir has raised more than £500 for Northern Lights children's charity.

NE Singers raised the cash by hosting their carol concert in the Parish Church and by carol singing at Neston Market Square.

They chose Cheshire based charity Northern Lights to be the recipient of £537 to ensure children with limiting illnesses had the chance to explore the world safely.

In December eight-year-old William Magee from Prenton went on an unforgettable holiday to Lapland with the help of Northern Lights.

William from Prenton was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was just two years old.

Duchenne is a terminal disorder which is characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness – symptoms usually begin during early childhood between the ages of three and five.

Northern Lights also took 10 children from hospitals across Wirral, Cheshire and Liverpool to Disneyland Paris for their 30th anniversary.

The NE Singers meet weekly at the URC in Neston and are always looking to welcome new members.
