A NEW care home in New Brighton has revealed the name of its two purpose built lodges.

Athena Healthcare Group's new purpose built, two 80 bedroom occupancy nursing and residential care lodge on Alexandra Road in New Brighton will open later this year.

The lodges, named by Athena employees, will be called Lighthouse and Marine View.

Lucky employees received a £250 for suggesting the names.

Last year the group launched a new initiative to link care homes in the area to help residents take part in activities and have a change of scenery.

The 'community monthly activity hub' involves bringing care homes and the community together in order to help the elderly age 'well' in care homes.

The activities also work to combat loneliness and isolation in the community.

Group events ambassador Lesley Malone said: "The naming of the lodges are a reflection of the uniqueness of the local area.

"Soon to be opened late summer/early autumn offering full and active community lifestyle via our community activity hub.

"Age is only a number - it’s how you choose to live your life and Athena healthcare groups North West community activity hub is a prime example how our ladies and gentlemen are doing this as their own choice."

"Everyone at Athena healthcare group are so excited for the two lodges to open as we know how our other ladies and gentlemen are enjoying their lives at other Athena homes in West Lancashire and Sefton."

The group is also looking to recruit up to 250 people for a range of jobs in the care industry for the New Brighton home in July.
