ALMOST 20 bags of rubbish were collected by volunteers during a Coastal Clean Up.

Two teams, set up by Wirral's Conservative councillors picked up litter along the embankment between Moreton and Meols on Saturday.

The volunteers were joined by special guest, seven-year-old Elizabeth Gadsdon, dubbed 'The Little Collector'.

She said: "We can't keep on doing what we are doing because it’s hurting the planet.

"Picking up litter is one of the ways we can stop plastic pollution getting into oceans.

"If we all work together we can make a difference."

Cllr Ian Lewis added: "It was fantastic to see 20 residents and councillors get stuck in and collect so much litter from along our beautiful coast.

"Two teams, spending a couple of hours, made a big difference to the area.

"We were especially pleased to have the support of The Little Collector - Elizabeth is setting a great example of how one person can make big difference."
