A PENSIONER was knocked to the ground and her handbag stolen as she walked home from a night out.
The 71-year-old victim was walking home from a night out, along Church Road, Tranmere, at 11.45pm on Saturday.
Her attacker, described only as a young male, escaped with cash, two gold wristwatches, two gold lockets,a gold St Christopher's pendant and a five-stone eternity ring.
The victim received injuries to her knee and the back of her head and is recovering in hospital.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Ian Hassall said: "This is a despicable crime against a vulnerable member of society that Merseyside Police will not tolerate."
