ARRIVA Merseyside will be handing out free gardening kits and seed pots for passengers as part of National Go Green Week.

Arrive staff will be getting on services throughout Wirral from February 12 to 18 hoping to encourage people live a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

The initiative comes after a number of campaigns for its carbon emissions in Merseyside including a £21m investment in greener transport in 2017 which saw 72 hybrids electric and gas buses introduced on services throughout the North West.

Head of marketing Lisa Pearson said: “Go Green Week is a fantastic way to raise awareness and educate the nation about the issue of air pollution.

"This is something which the company wholeheartedly supports in line with Arriva’s wider clean-air strategy, that aims to dramatically reduce our carbon footprint.

"We hope these gifts will help our passengers consider the way they contribute to the carbon economy in the UK, and spare a moment to look at how they can inject a more eco-friendly approach to other aspects of their lives.”

Arriva will also be giving their followers a chance to enter the ‘Go Green’ competition on Facebook and Twitter where they can also win a mini greenhouse.
