LIDL's new supermarket in Birkenhead will open its doors later on this month.

The new Oxton Road store will welcome customers for the first time on Thursday, February 22.

Customers are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony from 8am and will have the chance to sample some of Lidl's award winning products throughout the day.

There will also have exclusive deals and offers on selected products for the first week of opening including a demolition hammer on Thursday February 22, a sewing machine on Friday 23, and a food processor and blender on Saturday 24.

Open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, the new store forms part of the companies ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK and has created 40 new jobs for the local community.

The store features facilities such as an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, customer toilets, baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Lidl UK's regional head of property Stuart Jardine said: "We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Birkenhead.

"It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can't wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community."
