A PLAN to build new homes in West Kirby has been rejected by councillors for a second time.
The proposed development, which would have seen Ashton Court in Banks Road demolished to make way for 14 houses, was considered by members of Wirral's planning committee on Thursday.
The meeting at Wallasey Town Hall was attended by more than 100 local residents, who feared the proposal would lead to parking problems from overdevelopment of the site.
A petition of 973 signatures against the scheme was handed in as part of consultation.
Ward councillor Gerry Ellis said afterwards: "For the second time in 12 months, the application for cramming so many houses on to this site has been rejected.
"I sincerely hope the applicant will now reconsider how appropriate it is to try to squeeze so many houses onto such a small site.
"Thank you to all those residents who supported our call."
