A LIVERPOOL university will host Northern Power Women to discuss issues around gender and equility in media for a live podcast.
SAE Liverpool's campus will host NPW on Wednesday, January 24 at 1pm for an afternoon discussing debates concerning women in technology and media industries.
NPW is a campaign to accelerate gender equality from the North.
Their range of events and awards bring together both women and men to become ‘agents of change’, collectively helping organisations learn, engage and promote their aim of increasing opportunities for women.
The session will be an eye-opening discussion of all of their personal career experiences, vitally increasing awareness of the issues that still exist today.
Radio 5 Live’s Sam Walker will be chairing the event and leading the questions for the three panelists, who each represent different aspects of the creative industries.
She said: “We’re really excited to be bringing the NPW podcast to SAE Institute for a live recording.
“Each month the podcast is a place where women and men at all stages of their career can have frank and engaging discussions about some of the biggest challenges that they’re facing today, both in and out of work.
"It’s a platform where people can share hopes, concerns and of course, brilliant advice based on their own experiences.”
SAE students as well as the general public are invited to take part in the insightful discussions, where they are free to ask questions beforehand through NPW’s ‘Ask the Hive’ set up.
With the event concluding with a networking session, students will get an opportunity to speak to key people in the industry.
Academic co-ordinator at SAE Liverpool Kate Corbin said: “This podcast and panel event is a great opportunity for students, staff and external participants to engage in discussion around women's current and future roles in the creative industry.
"The idea for the event originated from students at the Liverpool campus and we hope it is the first of many similar events running at SAE Liverpool.”
