TWO elderly Staffordshire bull terriers are crossing their paws in hope that a big-hearted Globe reader will give them the ultimate Christmas present - a new home.

Kaya, aged 13, and Kane, 10, have been in the RSPCA's care for more than a year at the charity's Wirral branch after Kaya was beaten by her owner in the street.

As a result, the siblings were taken in by the RSPCA while investigations and a prosecution took place.

They have now been available for rehoming since October this year but sadly they have had no interest from potential adopters.

RSPCA inspector Anthony Joynes, who rescued the pair, said: "Kaya and Kane have now spent more than 430 days in kennels so far, through no fault of their own.

"We are really keen to find them a home as they are an amazing pair.

"They may only have a few years left given that they're rather senior now, but are both very active, loyal, loving dogs with great personalities

"It would mean absolutely everything to them to have a new home before the end of the year and they really deserve it.

"They are so close that they would need to be rehomed together, ideally in a home with no other pets where someone is around most of the time.

"Both of them love long walks and their favourite thing is playing ball - despite their ages, they are still full of beans!"

If you would like to offer Kaya and Kane a home, contact the RSPCA's Wirral & Chester branch on 0151 638 6318, or pop into the centre on Cross Lane, in Wallasey, open every day from 12pm to 3pm.
