BRITAIN'S Got Talent stars Richard and Adam serenaded the first customers of New Ferry's Age UK shop following its huge refit.

The New Ferry branch had to undergo a total overhaul after the devastating explosion on March 25.

The Welsh classical singing brothers dropped in on the day the shop reopened and thrilled shoppers by belting out a couple of big hits, ’O Sole Mio and The Impossible Dream.

Richard said: “We did a tour of care homes for Age UK and try to support the charity whenever we can.

"We were pleased to drop in and see the newly refurbished New Ferry shop and I have to say it’s amazing.”

Adam added: “It’s always a pleasure to meet customers, staff and volunteers and we were delighted to be asked to drop in and sing a couple of numbers.

"It really was a pleasure.”

Manager Trecia Walton says she is delighted with the new refit: “We have been closed since the devastating gas explosion which left everyone devastated.

"I have certainly missed our regular customers. We now have a real opportunity to welcome all our customers and hopefully many new people to the shop.

“The shop has been fully refitted to a very high standard and looks absolutely fabulous. I am also grateful to Richard and Adam.

"Everyone has loved meeting them and hearing them sing.”

And the newly refitted shop has received a firm thumbs up from regular customers, many of whom queued outside the door waiting for the shop to open.

First in the queue were Rock Ferry sisters Doreena Smart and Jean Canter.

Doreena said: “I’ve always supported Age UK and wanted to be first through the door when it reopened. It looks very fresh and bright and I’ll be visiting on a regular basis.”

Jean added: “I have 13 great grandchildren and 12 grandchildren so I like to buy toys and things I can give them at Christmas.

"I always like to come to Age UK and visit on a regular basis.

“I can’t afford to pay regular shop prices but the prices at Age UK are always reasonable. It’s a brilliant shop and I love it.”

Former auxiliary nurse Gladys Heatley, 72, known locally as Irish Gladys from Port Sunlight she said: “I’ve missed the shop really badly while it’s been closed.

"I visit two or even three times a day, sometimes just for a chat to be honest.

"I really enjoy coming in to see Trecia and the volunteers are amazing.”
