A NESTON filmmaker has been nominated as Best Digital Producer in a gala awards ceremony at the BFI Southbank in London.

Daniel J. Fox will attend the Audio Production Awards tonight (Thursday) which recognises outstanding achievement in audio and radio production.

Nominated as Best Digital Producer, Daniel has been recognised for a series of films he made to publicise the return of the British science fiction hero Dan Dare.

Dan Dare is a British science fiction comic hero, created by illustrator Frank Hampson.

Wirral Globe:

The stories were set in the late 1990s, but the dialogue of the characters shares a resemblance with British war films of the 1950s.

Released as a series of audio adventures the episodes star Ed Stoppard (The Piano), Heida Reed (Poldark) and Geoffrey McGivern (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy).

To promote the launch, Daniel’s company Chat Noir Productions Ltd was commissioned to produce a number of web documentaries, complete with cast and crew interviews, animation and access to the original Dan Dare artwork library.

He was abale to capture the making of the new audio dramas, but also provide a history of Dan Dare from the 1950s to present day.

Daniel said: “It would be fantastic recognition and a great boost for all the team - both at B7 Media and Chat Noir Productions - if we come away with the award for Best Digital Producer on Thursday night.”
