A NEW B&M store will open in Wirral this week with the help of local charity The Ark.

The new store based at the Rock Retail Park, Birkenhead in the former Staples / Office Outlet unit will join other retailers such as Matalan, The Food Warehouse and Home Bargains when it opens its doors on Thursday.

New staff at the store were asked to nominate a local cause they believe deserves VIP treatment for the work they do for the community.

They chose The Ark, a charity provides local homeless people with short-term accommodation, as well as the support and guidance they need to help them build confidence and secure permanent long term accommodation.

In addition to opening the new store, the representatives also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part and for all their hard work in the local community.

Store manager Amanda Sullivan said: “The team from The Ark really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for local homeless people, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

Representatives from The Ark will take centre stage as they officially unveil the new B&M store alongside Mayor Cllr Ann MacLachan.

Amanda added: “The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we can’t wait to get the doors open Thursday and show customers their new B&M Birkenhead.”
