FIREFIGHTERS rescued a trapped cat from a basement in Birkenhead.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called at around 11.27am on Friday, November 17 to a property in Hamilton Square after reports of a cat being trapped in a basement.
One fire engine attended the incident and crews used a ladder to access the cat, which had fallen around eight feet into the basement.
Crews used equipment provided by RSPCA officers at the scene to rescue the cat and bring it to ground level.
The cat was handed in to the care of a RSPCA officer unharmed.
Fire crews remained at the scene for around 25 minutes.
