CHILDREN and staff at a Wirral school have come together to raise cash for anti-bullying charity Kidscape by holding their own 'Friendship Friday'.

The children at Park Primary School in Wallasey came to school dressed in outfits that reflected their interests or personalities to support anti-bullying theme of the year 'Everyone is different; everyone is equal'.

During the day music was spontaneously played and during this time the children had to hug each other, shake hands and smile at the nearest classmate with the aim to make new friendships.

Kidscape is an anti-bullying charity that believes all children should grow up in a world free from bullying and harm, with adults who keep them safe and help them to reach their full potential.

The school has also been working closely with Kayte Walsh from My Esteem whose aim is to deal with bullying through developing resilience and raising self-esteem.

Kayte has also been working with a group of parents to develop an anti-bullying guide.

Chief executive at Kidscape Lauren Seager-Smith said: “It’s been wonderful to see so many children getting involved in Kidscape’s Friendship Friday this year.

"Good friends are invaluable to our success and happiness; they give us confidence, make us feel valued, offer support and provide love when we need it.

"Today is a day to celebrate our old friends and to make some new ones too.

"And just remember to look out for people who are on their own and sad.

"A smile, a compliment or a chat can make someone's day.”
