A gargantuan all-day event in December is set to be a sparkling start to New Years Eve celebrations for prosecco lovers.

Split into two sessions, the Liverpool Prosecco Festival on Friday, December 29 will feature exclusive producers from across Northern Italy hosting tasting sessions and masterclasses so everyone can have a chance to sample and find their favourite fizzy tipple.

Hosted by The Merchant in partnership with Camp and Furnace, there will be food from Nightcrawler Pizza and Liverpool small plates specialists Maray, who have created a menu to perfectly match up with the different prosecco on offer.

DJs will perform throughout the night and The Merchant, on Slater Street, will hold an after-party from 11pm to 3am with a very special guest DJ.

The special New Year’s Eve edition of the Liverpool Prosecco Festival comes after the huge success of the first event which was held over August Bank Holiday weekend.

Organisers hope it will give people a chance to discover more about the nation’s best-loved fizz in a fun way, they said: “Prosecco is almost certainly going to be the drink that’s bought most over the Christmas party season, it’s become so popular over the past year, so it was an obvious choice to put on our second festival between Christmas and New Year.

“We had such a fantastic reaction to our summer event, everyone loved the prosecco and food experience, so we decided to create something similar but with more of a winter NYE theme.”

The day will be split into four-hour afternoon and evening sessions and for every ticket purchased, there will be five free glasses of prosecco - giving everyone plenty of time to sample, and enjoy.

The NYE Liverpool Prosecco Festival is an 18+ event and tickets are priced £24.75 each.

The afternoon session at Camp & Furnace, runs from 1pm to 5pm and the evening session is 7pm to 11pm (doors open 7pm).
