IT was a cup dominated fixture list for the CWFL this week with both the Districts and Vets competitions being played.

Cestrian Alex, Mark Blake, Adam Crimes and Jamie Veitch, put in a star performance as they beat West Cheshire opposition Chester Nomads Reserves 3-1 in the Chester & District FA Challenge Cup to book a place in the quarterfinals.

Clubbies will be joining them after they beat a resilient Malpas Reserves 6-3 thanks to goals from Liam McGovern (3), Kevin McGovern, Ash Reid and Jake Johnson.

Clubbies were leading 3-0 after 15 minutes but Malpas pulled it back to 3-3 with goals from Tom Ellis (2) and Del Amson to give Clubbies a game.

Joe Williams netted twice for Upton JFC as they beat premier division side MBNA 4-2.

Upton's other goals came from Tom Berry and man of the match Max Champion.

Newton Athletic finish off the semi final line up after edging a 4-3 win over Blacon Youth Reserves with goals from Lewis Davenport, Mike Macintyre and super sub Liam Bradley who came off the bench to net a brace after Blacon had gone 2-0 up.

In the Runcorn District FA Cup Helsby beat Hatton Albion 2-1 whilst fellow CWFL side Orange Athletic went down by the same scoreline to Royal Rangers, Chris Edge their scorer.

In the CWFL Doug Johnson Vets Shield the teams were playing for a place in the last eight of the competition.

Mark Wilson scored twice for Ashton but it was not enough as Phil Cordell, Ben Whalley, Stuart Cossins and Paul Ireland all netted to give Upton JFC Vets a 4-2 win.

Danny Brown hit a consolation for Crossway Vets as they went down 6-1 to Avenue Vets, Danny Edwards, Le Gibson, Kev Duffy, Paul Lacy, Chris Taylor and Nick Scholes.

Jamie Rogers 2 and John Heap were on the mark for Blacon Youth Vets as they beat Higher Bebington Kelma, John Morris, 3-1.

Wayne Clarke and Dave Swain 2 were the scorers for Frodsham Park Vets who beat Dee Rangers Vets 3-1 also.

An injury ravaged Hartford Vets were unable to field a side away to Mersey Royal Vets who will now go through to the next round.

Luke Guest netted for Ellesmere Port Town Vets who lost 2-1 away to Mostyn Vets.

Nags Head Bunbury Vets entertained Shotton Steel, going down 6-2.

Their scorers were Dave Thomson and Ian Adkins.

In the league Higher Bebington Kelma continue to climb the table after a fine 1-0 win over Franklyn's in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division thanks to an 80th minute winner from James Harsden.

In the CWFL Link Up Division Two Hoole Youth beat Saughall Colts 4-1 with goals from Karl Rixham 2, Danny Gleavin and a Taylor Owen wonder goal.

The CWFL Monday Night and Friday Night 11s is once again in full swing with an extra division being added for the 2017-2018 season.

In the new CWFL Monday Night 11s Chester Division being played and the new £700k facility and Blacon High Newton Athletic beat Cestrian Legends 7-0 while it was a baptism of fire for the new M&S Monday night team as they went down 10-1 to a very good AFC Chester.

Over at the Sports Village in the CWFL Monday Night 11s Ellesmere Port Division West Kirby FC beat neighbours West Kirby Utd in the night's early kick off with goals from Nick Garcia 3, Jack Darlington, Sam Walton and an OG.

In the night's other game Shaun McGonacle netted a consolation for Ship Argyle as they went down 5-1 to TRIC (Tranmere Rovers in the Community).

TRIC scorers were Ellis Williams with a Hattrick, Lewis Cooper and Lewis Whitley.

In the CWFL Friday Night 11s goals from Dean Rattcliffe 3, Jack Roberts and an OG were enough to secure a 5-3 win for Ashton Phoenix over Chester Lions, Tim Chan (2) and Rhys Jones.

In the night's other game Sam Lloyd hat a hattrick for Travs as they beat Waverton, James Mottershead, 3-1.
