A WIRRAL care company has travelled to Hong Kong to establish a training and partnership agreement with their Chinese counterparts.

Bosses from Kare Plus Wirral met with senior members of Hong Kong’s nursing community, Alice Tso Shing Yuk owner of a newly established care company based in Wan Chai along with senior government advisor on care of the elderly Dr. Ching Choi Lam.

Dr May owner and director of Kare Plus Wirral said: “During several meetings it became clear that the key issues and concerns around care and the increasing demands that issues such as dementia rates are putting on health and social care in the UK are almost identical in Hong Kong.

“Increased life expectancy means that there are more elderly people in need of hospital and home care and, while the hospital sector in Hong Kong is excellent they have very little, if any, proper home care providers.

“This visit provided an important opportunity to share ideas but also to discuss business and how Kare Plus Wirral and our sister company The Care Training Network can help to train and develop staff in the Hong Kong care sector."

It is hoped that Kare Plus Wirral and Birkenhead-based The Care Training Network will provide an online package of training for Hong Kong care assistants and home care staff.

Dr May added: “Our meetings were so productive that Dr Tso Shing Yuk and members of the Hong Kong Nursing Academy hope to visit our offices and training centre in Birkenhead in 2018 to see how Kare Plus Wirral and Liverpool provides care and how we train and develop our nursing and home care staff.

"This will give us an opportunity to show off the best aspects of life and business on Merseyside and hopefully secure a training and partnership agreement in due course."
