POLICE earned themselves a pat on the back this morning after clearing a herd of cows from the motorway.
The animals were spotted enjoying a stroll along the M56 between junction 14 for Helsby and 15 near Chester and Ellesmere Port around 3am this morning, Thursday.
The motorway was closed in both directions while police dealt with the incident.
But despite their saunter being interrupted it appears the herd had no beef with the officers and we're safely 'moooved' into a field.
