PREPARATIONS are now underway for this year's Christmas Festival in Wallasey Village.

Taking place on Saturday, December 2 it will be opened at 3pm by Mayor of Wirral Ann McLachlan and Father Christmas.

It will feature a performance by SingMe Merseyside outside The Lighthouse Pub and Aaron Hayes' Joytime Christmas Special in St Mary's College car park.

For animal lovers, there will be Barks Petting Zoo, Santa Paws and his dog grotto as well as the Wirral Grenadier Majorettes appearing at Sheridans Pub.

Last year, 3,500 people attended and this year’s festival will include entertainment for children and adults, a crèche for dads in the Farmers Arms, a Winter Wonderland with miniature ponies and Father Christmas and his elves.

Joint event organiser, Lesley Cubbin, said: "The Festival brings fun and festivities throughout the village and is a great opportunity for the whole community to come together.

"Our group, including shopkeepers, pub managers, local businesses and residents, have been meeting over the past five months and have put together a programme of events that will certainly bring the village alive this year.

"Everyone is welcome.
