Musical magic

ST Paul's Operatic Society's latest show, Magic of the musicals will be staged at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight this week.

Taking place on Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21, it features songs from Hello Dolly, Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I and Follies to name a few.

AN art exhibition inspired by the poems of The Mersey Sound poets Adrian Henri, Roger McGough and Brian Patten opens at the Rathbone Studio in Birkenhead later this week.

Fifty years ago, Penguin Books published number 10 in their modern poetry anthology series featuring three poets, called The Mersey Sound.

The book was revised and expanded in 1974. The exhibition at the venue in Argyle Street, will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm–5pm every week until December 23. Details from www.rathbonestudio.com

Hymn-a-thon

A HYMN marathon will be held at St Nicholas Church in Wallasey this Saturday from 10am-3pm.

It will be a chance to sing or listen and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the church. Refreshments and harvest lunches will be available.
