TEN Wirral schools have been shortlisted at this year’s Educate Awards.

Hundreds of entries were sent in from around the North West in 21 award categories breaking previous records. 

Now in its sixth year, the event is the biggest celebration of education in the North West.

Held at Liverpool Cathedral the awards ceremony celebrates excellence in schools across Liverpool City Region, Cheshire and Lancashire.

Last year Clare Mount Specialist Sports College won the 'Outstanding Commitment to Sport' award for their 'extensive' and 'holistic' approach to sport which allows all children to get involved and by wowing the judges with their extra-curricular programme.

Shortlisted schools for this year's awards are; Riverside Primary School, Mosslands School, Calday Grange Grammar School, Orrets Meadow School, Clare Mount Specialist Sports College, Bebington High School Farm, Bebington High Sports College, Birkenhead Sixth Form College, Kilgarth School and Woodchurch CE Primary School.

Riverside Primary School in Seacombe has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Arts in a Primary School category for its ‘Adventure into Wonderland’ project. 

Mosslands School in Wallasey is in the running for the STEM Project of the Year Award. 

Calday Grange Grammar School is also in the running for the STEM Project of the Year Award. 

Orrets Meadow School in Moreton is shortlisted for the SEND Provision Award. 

Clare Mount Specialist Sports College is also shortlisted in the SEND Provision category. 

Bebington High Sports College is in the running for the Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Secondary School Award. 

Bebington High’s School Farm is also on the shortlist this year, for the Spirit of Enterprise Award. 

Birkenhead Sixth Form College is nominated in the Most Inspirational 16-18 Education Provider category. 

Kilgarth School in Birkenhead has developed an incredible project which is shortlisted for the Community Partnership Award. 

Woodchurch CE Primary School is also in the running for the Community Partnership Award.

The winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on Friday, November 17 at Liverpool Cathedral.
