THE famous Sparks in the Park firework display will return to Prenton Park this year.

Taking place on 'Spooky Sunday' October 29, the Sparks in the Park event will showcase local acts such as the Woodchurch Phoenix Majorettes, Nitros Elite Cheerleaders and the Fusion Dance Academy who will warm up the crowds before the firework display on the pitch.

The event, run by volunteers from Heswall Round Table and Tranmere Rovers will give families the chance to get pictures with Disney Frozen's Elsa and Anna.

On the night there is a competition to win prizes by tweeting Halloween selfies with '#SpookyTRFC'.

A spokesman from the display team said: "We think that the firework display at Tranmere Rovers is the biggest and best fireworks in Wirral.

"It's the biggest covered display in the region, so even if it rains you’ll have a great night.

"There will be hot food, drinks, candyfloss, ice creams and toffee apples available - pre-show entertainment provided by local acts and of course, fireworks.

"Set to music and provided by one the the UK’s leading firework display companies, the Prenton Park fireworks is an unmissable event for all the family.

"The event is a charity fundraiser, raising important funds which Heswall Round Table distribute to good causes across Wirral throughout the year.

"The event is organised and run by volunteers, with help from Tranmere Rovers staff and stewards."

Gates open at 5.30pm, acts will start 5.45pm and turnstiles close at 6.45pm.

Tickets are £5 and are available from Tranmere Rovers online, in store at the Club Shop, Bargain Booze on Borough Road and Grange Road West, McColl's Mount Road, Gladstone Theatre and local primary schools.
