A WARRINGTON pub has been praised for the quality of its beer by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The Looking Glass in Buttermarket Street has been entered into CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2018.

Warrington branch members from CAMRA chose the Wetherspoon pub following visits to check on the range and quality of the real ales on offer.

The pub supports regional brewers and micro breweries including Coach Brewing Company in Howley.

Inspectors also took into account customer service, décor and overall atmosphere.

A CAMRA spokesman said: “The Looking Glass deserves its place in the Good Beer Guide 2018.

“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”

Anthony Dawick, the pub’s manager who lives in Bewsey, added: “I am delighted that The Looking Glass has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members.

“We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales, including those from regional brewers and micro brewers.

“Staff work hard to ensure the ales are kept in first-class condition and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”

Warrington is well represented elsewhere in the 2018 guide.

Other pubs and venues include Appleton Thorn Village Hall, Cherry Tree in Culcheth, Lymm Brewery Tap, Bull’s Head in Lymm, Ferry Tavern in Penketh, Costello’s in Stockton Heath, Little Manor in Thelwall, Lower Angel in Buttermarket Street and The Tavern in Church Street.
