AN independent bar and eatery in New Brighton has become the first buisness in the area to support a new plastic reduction campaign 'The Last Straw'

Blackberry Grove will support the campaign created by local award winning community volunteer group The New Brighteners, to convince others 'Bin it, Not beach it' when considering waste.

The restaurant has also supported 'Smog of the Sea' a conservation project to discuss protecting marine life.

As well as working with local suppliers, Blackberry Grove are now reaching out to the community and looking to aid the conservation efforts of these local groups, to run in line with their nautically inspired restaurant theme.

Owner Joanna Jones told the Globe: “An important part of the inspiration for our restaurant was the surrounding area of New Brighton, so for us here at Blackberry Grove it is important that we uphold the standards of our beach that has put us on the map.

"For generations to come, we want this family location to be preserved so along with the fact we will be once again aiding wildlife preservation, it’s an honour to be asked to work alongside The New Brighteners on this project.”
