IT'S the Globe's 44th birthday and to celebrate we have a number of special messages from some famous faces who have supported us over the years.
Ken Dodd
Happy 44th birthday to the Wirral Globe – a lively, weekly paper.
This wonderful journal is what I call a modern day society paper – it keeps us informed of the tide times of Tranmere and the Pirates of Prenton.
You can read about fog in Frankby and very importantly laughter in Leasowe.
Hilarity in Hilbre and merriment in Moreton and Meols. How’s that for my anniversary alliteration of Wirral?
I am already looking forward to playing one of my favourite venues New Brighton Pavilion in February - audiences there love to be tickled.
I hope Cyril the Squirrel is alive and well – I have spotted him in the paper many times over the years.
So happy, healthy plumptious 44th Birthday to the Wirral Globe.
Keep up the good work and continue - wherever possible - in spreading happiness across the whole of the Wirral Peninsula.
Charlie Landsborough
Happy birthday to our great local paper.
Thank you for keeping us informed and entertained for 44 years.
When I have been away I can check it online but I genuinely love to come home and pick up a copy to find out what is going on and will be going on.
A forever friend I catch up with each week.
Roger Lyon, BBC Radio Merseyside Broadcaster
I love the Wirral Globe as it is a paper that always looks to recognise unsung heroes in the local community who otherwise may never receive the credit they deserve for their many good deeds.
Many happy returns.
Eithne Browne, Actress
Happy birthday to the Wirral Globe.
Still a local paper - true to its roots and serving the community and deserving of its many awards and accolades.
A voice for the Arts and more on the Wirral.
Long may you put pen and paper together.
Pete Price, Radio DJ
A paper that is always a good read.
It speaks its mind - just like me. And at its wearing well – also like me.
Have a happy anniversary.
Here’s to the next 44 years.
Stan Boardman, Comedian
If you don’t want fake news then open the Wirral Globe.
It is a paper that stands up for its readers and is a vital part of the community.
I am grateful and I know my fellow entertainers are for the support the paper gives us.
So, happy birthday to Wirral Globe - 44 years old in print and that also includes its much younger digital sister - online.
The Globe informs and entertains. Well done - you deserve a medal.
John McArdle, Emmerdale
