STORM Aileen is set to make her way to Wirral with winds of up to 65 to 75mph.
The Met Office have put in place an orange weather warning for Storm Aileen between 12.05am on Wednesday to 6am.
Commuters are being warned of longer journey times by road, rail and air and there will be restrictions on roads and bridges.
It is also likely that there will be damage to trees and buildings - power cuts are also expected.
Flying debris and large coastal waves are also possible and these could lead to injuries.
In an assessment the Chief Forecaster's said: "The strongest winds are expected to arrive in the west around midnight and move quickly eastwards, with the worst of the winds likely to affect any one place for one to two hours.
"Gusts of 70-75 mph are most likely over hills and western coasts, but even further east gusts of 60-70 mph are possible."
