THE Wirral-born star of BBC crime drama Silent Witness was hospitalised after being stabbed in the head by a scissor-wielding attacker.
Liz Carr, who is in a wheelchair and portrays scientist Clarissa Mullery in the popular TV series, was reportedly lunged at by a man near Euston station in central London last week.
The actress, stand-up comedienne and disability rights activist from Port Sunlight is recovering from a slash wound following the attack while her carer was also taken to hospital.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a suspect in his 20s was arrested by officers on suspicion of GBH and taken into custody at a north London police station.
The man has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.
The spokesman added: "Officers were called to Euston Road at 8.21pm on Thursday August 10 to reports of a man attacking two women with scissors.
"The two women were taken to hospital suffering minor cuts and subsequently discharged."
Carr suffers from rare genetic condition arthrogryposis multiplex congenital and has been in a wheelchair since the age of seven.
