A COMMUNITY gym at Tranmere Rovers has been given state-of-the-art training equipment by developer Bellway Homes.

Located in the recreational centre at Prenton Park, the gym focuses on being affordable and accessible for local residents.

As it is a community facility, support from local companies is essential.

The club initially purchased some equipment and paid for the gym to be established, and Bellway Homes' donation of a multi-gym working station has been hailed an asset to the gym, benefiting many members.

Emma Palios, development manager for Tranmere Rovers in the Community, said: "We are really grateful to Bellway Homes for its kind donation.

"One of our Personal Trainers had recommended the multi-gym working station as it was a piece of equipment that would benefit all members since it works out several muscle groups.

"It is particularly useful for those undertaking a physio programme.

"Quite simply, without Bellway's support we would have been able to purchase the machine so soon.

"Our members are delighted with it too.

"It is something new to incorporate into their training schedules, ensuring their work outs are even more varied and enjoyable."

Jenny Bell, sales director at Bellway Homes, said: "Tranmere Rovers' community gym at Prenton Park is a great idea and we are pleased to have been able to provide much-needed equipment for the facility.

"We are currently building three and four bedroom homes close by at Mallory Park, the club's former training ground on Ingleborough Road, so being involved with the gym's ongoing development is a good way for us to give back to the local community.

"We hope the community gym continues to grow."
