TWO Wirral sisters will take part in the Liverpool Big Fun Run to show support for their nan who has recently been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

Corinne and Vicki Williamson from Wallasey will run 5K on August 12 to raise cash for Motor Neurone Disease Association and help support those who have been diagnosed.

The girls decided to make a difference after hearing the heartbreaking news that their nan Georgina (Ena) had been diagnosed with MND.

So far the pair have raised £750, surpassing their original £200 target but are now wanting to raise more for the charity which is in desperate need of funding.

Corinne told the Globe: “Our nan has received the terrible diagnosis very recently that she has MND.

“The reason for this run is very short notice but we are doing it and have raised £750 so far with more coming our way for MND Association – Wirral.

“Our nan is the reason and the realisation that there are still plenty of people daily who receive new of this diagnosis.

“We are frustrated that there is no cure for this disease and so we are doing our best to raise funds in order to create more comfort and support for those diagnosed.

“I am determined to get further involved within the MND Association as much as I can along with my family.

“The reality of not having a cure is frustrating therefore, want to do our best to fund and help others in need.

“My nan is one of the greatest people in my life and has always just loved life and had fun no matter what.

“We love our ‘Beautiful Nanny’ she makes us call her since being young, so we are determined to do as much to raise funds for this disease as possible.”
