A WIRRAL charity Mind On Music is ready to go on a tour of the UK after delivering regular music sessions at Arrowe Park Hospital.

The charity run by jazz singer Bexi Owen, 30, hopes to help promote health and wellbeing through music.

Bexi began Mind On Music after running a dementia project called Forget Me Never for two years.

The charity uses classic songs for those living with dementia in order to engage them socially and stimulate memories.

Arrowe Park Hospital will host the first show of the tour on August 1 before Bexi travels the UK on a year long tour to share her work and the health benefits of music.

Bexi, from Upton, told the Globe: "Music and sound have proven benefits and can really help those with chronic illness, even at the very least if it's just to lift their spirits during the afternoon.

"I'm delighted to be starting the tour here at Arrowe Park as it's close to where I live and so I feel a strong connection to the area and community here."

"The staff at the hospital are vital to our project and we couldn't do it without their support, particularly Marg Davies and the ward matrons.

"The nurses are wonderful, very interactive in helping the patients get involved too which is great to see."
