OLD Parkonians 1st XI hit back from their away defeat at Holmes Chapel by beating Winsford.

The home side ran out easy winners in a clinical performance at Holm Lane where all-rounder Ben Rees was in red hot form.

Old Parkonians won the toss and quickly took advantage of the bowling, with Chris Hitchell (22) and Ben Rees adding 57 for the first wicket before the former was out caught behind.

Beckett (23) promoted himself to number three and the score was at 115 before he was out bowled just before drinks.

Ben Rees carried on in style, eventually being out caught just 10 runs short of a deserved century.

His 90 runs came off 112 balls and featured nine boundaries and a maximum.

It was left to Greg Lindop (57) and Dave Nedugodan (23) to smash some quick runs as the skipper could afford an early declaration with the score 234-4 off 40 overs.

Winsford never looked like they were able to bat for fifty overs, let alone chase the big total.

It only took two overs for Lewis Elwood to take the first wicket and then the wickets began to tumble rapidly as 5-1 became 17-5 and then 24-8 as from the other end, Ben Rees carried on his fine day with a phenomenal spell of pace bowling.

Elwood finished with 4-17 and Ben Rees 6-8 as Old Parks ran out easy winners and earned an early rest having only needed 14.4 overs to bowl Winsford out.

Old Parks stay 17 points clear at the summit of The UKFast CCL Division four and unfortunately have another free week next weekend due to the demise of Rylands.
