WIRRAL’S Typhoo tea factory featured on a new BBC documentary.

Presenters Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey gave viewers access to the Typhoo tea factory in Moreton, one of the largest factories in Britain that produces one quarter of all the tea we drink in Britain.

BBC Two’s hour-long Inside the Factory uncovered how Typhoo turns 20 tonnes of tea into 6.9 million tea bags.

Workers at the factory revealed to the programme the process Typhoo has been perfecting the tea since it started making tea back in 1903.

Now 14 million teabags are produced every 24 hours to bring Britain the perfect brew.

Typhoo’s head of tea buying and blending Alan Hargreaves also revealed how his team that arrive at the factory as part of the brands quality control.

Chief executive at Typhoo Tea Somnath Saha said: “We are delighted to open our doors to the BBC and share with viewers the journey our tea takes from bush to cup.

“We are incredibly proud of the expert team we have here at Typhoo that ensures Britain wakes up to a smile and the perfect brew every morning.”
