Wirral Globe Arts Ambassdors - Off the Ground are on a journey to circumnavigate the GLOBE.

This summer the award winning company will be presenting Around the World in 80 Days around open air venues in Wirral, Wales and Ireland.

Their latest production centres on Phileas Fogg who believes the world can be circumnavigated in record time.

After a snap decision with the stuffy Reform Club there is a wager of £20,000.

Mr Fogg is on his way.

With his trusty servant Passepartout, he negotiates all manner of transport from ships, to railways, tackling elephants, angry savages, and American elections en route, while being chased by Scotland Yard.

Nothing fazes Fogg but it proves to be a journey of self-discovery.

Adapted from the original Jules Verne novel by OFG’s Jim Foggin, who previously adapted Alice in Wonderland, this classic tale has romance, adventure and, says OFG, "an awful lot of silliness."

Artistic Director Dan Meigh took time off from mapping out the adventures - which includes various Wirral dates - to tell the Globe.

"Having read the script Jim came up with, I can confirm this play will be utterly mad.

"We have to take the audience around the world in two hours, never mind 80 days, meeting the most magical and ludicrous collection of characters, including an Indian Princess, a blind sea-captain and the mythical embodiment of Britannia.

"I don’t recall ever being this excited to see how a show will come together.’’

Off the Ground have been producing quality theatre for more than over 20 years.

They were recognised for their contribution to the arts by the Wirral Globe in 2016.

Their summer touring productions have become increasingly ambitious and spectacular with each passing year.

Recent shows have included The Musketeers and Zorro, which played to sell-out crowds over the past two years and were critically acclaimed by the Wirral Globe.
