SPORTS and stage fighting are among activities Wirral youngsters can get involved during a special event this weekend.

It is part of Love Wirral - a three-day event starting on Friday and taking place in Wallasey.

Attractions also include sports activities; including sports, crafts, games, science experiments and stage fighting.

It starts on Friday night with games, sports and crafty activities at St Hilary’s Church on Claremount Road in Wallasey between 7pm and 9pm, before getting into full swing on Saturday in Harrison Park at noon, with sports, crafts, games, science experiments and stage fighting.

That will be followed by a barbecue and quiz between 6pm and 8pm.

Sunday is Sports Day in Harrison Park between 12.30 and 4pm, following Sunday service in Wallasey United Reformed Church at 10.30am with races, a tug of war, and egg and spoon race, an inflatable assault course and a picnic.

Just like last year's Love Wirral, the whole event is free of charge, thanks to hard work by the young people from Heswall Youth Fellowship and adult volunteers Iona Farley, Karen Elson and Wallasey youth worker Matt Bentley.

Iona said: "There’ll be the usual sports, crafts, face painting and games with the addition this year of an inflatable assault course for the sports day and stage fighting workshops.

"We will be serving baked potatoes at lunchtime on Saturday, there’s the barbecue later and Tesco are also gifting us lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to munch on which we’re really grateful for.

"We want to see as many people as possible come along and have a really great time – we just want to bless the community as much as possible!"

No booking for any of the activities is required.
